First Friday Goes Virtual

Virtual First Friday: Family Block Party & Pride Parade

May 1 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

The official May First Friday events are canceled, and the in-person Family Block Party and Pride Parade events are postponed, date TBD. Individual participation from the art galleries, retail, and restaurants will be at the business owner’s discretion.  If we can’t all be together in downtown Carbondale, then let’s connect virtually for a fun-filled evening with local businesses and creatives! Every year the Carbondale May First Friday is an event to remember and this year, a collective of bright minds and colorful personalities have joined forces to make sure this year is just as special while we continue to celebrate in an alternative format.  To enjoy the outdoor element of our traditional Family Block Party we’re encouraging people to participate in a Yard Art Walk from 4-6 pm (don’t forget to wear your face mask and practice social distancing). Carbondale Arts will be providing FREE chalk kits and yard signs to decorate so everyone can create something to share with friends and neighbors. Chalk kits and yard signs are available to pick up our front of The Launchpad (limit one per artist or household). Or if you have other artwork you’d like to display, please do! While adhering to distancing guidelines, take a stroll and enjoy this community project – we encourage picture taking and sharing! Afterward, settle in and hop on TRTC’s ThunderStream for the First Friday broadcast with special guests and a celebration of Pride from 6-8 pm. www.ThunderRiverTheatre.com/live
